Meh.

This book is like raisin bread- nice when the raisin's around, boring the rest of the time.
There are some funny moments, but the rest of it is so-so.

Tell me, what does this heroine look like again? All I recall are her thundering... no, not thighs,.. cheeks! Okay, so she has fat, hanging cheeks. What else? What, other than her cheeks, does anybody find appealing in her? She's immature, insecure, obstinate, jumps to conclusions, has big hang-ups about where she lives, how she talks, her origins, her looks, her clothes... it's like reading about a teenager.

So yeah.. if she'd been 17, it would have been like The Princess Diaries or any of those teenage novels. However, since she's a decade older, she vacillates between being annoying or childish.

About the rest of the book: premise is good; many of the descriptions of cricket-mania are spot on; many of the secondary characters are well-developed.
Pity about the heroine.

Physical security must also address an expanded range of threats that embraces not only traditional threat components of war, but also nontraditional threats generated by guerrillas, terrorists, criminals, and natural or man-made disasters. In addition, physical security must address the concept of Homeland Defense due to the aforementioned threats. Homeland Defense is the military's role in the United States (US) government's principal task of protecting its territory and citizens. Homeland Defense includes supporting domestic authorities for crisis and consequence management with regard to weapons of mass destruction (WMD), protecting national-security assets (such as installations) and deploying forces and ensuring the availability, integrity, and adequacy of other critical assets, deterring and defending against strategic attacks while maintaining freedom of action through antiterrorism and force-protection operations."

"With this in mind, it is essential to address the five pillars of force protection—combating terrorism, physical security, personal security, law enforcement, and operations security (OPSEC). Physical security is a central component of force protection and provides an integrated venue to express support for operations. Physical security is a primary-leader task and an inherent part of all operations to protect soldiers, family members, civilians, and resources."

The Army's field manual on security is what it says it is - it is a field manual for the U.S. Army. I can see how the manual can be used for private business but I wouldn't buy this manual with the thought of not needing another resource. Just like Sun Tzu shouldn't be used by C.E.O's as a strict guide. War and business are not alike.

If you are studying Anatomy, this may be the book for you

This really is a very good book. He really explains things very well. The chapters are layed out in a logical order and there are quizes and questions along the way. The book is well written too. I would recommend this book to a student, but it wouldn't be my first recommendation. There are others like Marieb & Martini that I like because the style of writing isn't quite as dry as Tortora. It still is an excellent book though. One of the best.

Great book for anyone taking college anatomy and Physiology

My study group and I used this book for our college anatomy and physiology classes. We found that the text was quite easy to comprehend and the pictures of muscles was very clear and precise. We also used the following 3 books when we were preparing for our midterm and final exams.

Anatomy and Physiology Study Guide: (Volume 1 and Volume 2) are outstanding study guides. It showed us the kind of questions to prepare for when we took our exams. We saw many of the type of questions asked on our exams from studying these study guides. Also, Key Facts for Anatomy and Physiology focused on the key ideas asked on the exams. I guess this is why me and my study group all got over 90 averages in our classes. This was our exact study plan. First, read important stuff in Tortora's textbook to get a really good understanding of A and P. For the test, we prepared heavy by studying the last 3 books described and using Tortora's book as a reference.

Excellent Anatomy and Physio text

For a new student of anatomy and physiology, this text is incredible. It's got a wealth of material, is easy to use and understand (without being simplistic), and does an excellent job integrating the principles of physiology in with the basic anatomy. It even has some small clinical asides that are both interesting and relevant. I used this book for all of my undergrad work, and have kept it as a valuable reference for my med school anatomy. I also picked up and use a copy of Moore's "Clinically Oriented Anatomy", which is also excellent, yet much more advanced/detailed....for a quick reference I find that I always check Tortora/Grabowski first, and go to a deeper text only if what I need isn't covered in sufficient depth, which rarely happens. This is an outstanding textbook for A&P.

It certainly fits the title
By miss fortune
This book is full of images of spaces that are 'white by design'. But it simply wasn't what I was looking for. I was looking for a romantic feeling, and the cover of the book is misleading. Most of the spaces featured in the book itself are more clean and modern. If that is what you are looking for, this is the book for you! If you are looking for something like I was, 'Victoria: At Home with White' should better fill your needs.
